It's vitally important to be sure your large breed dog is getting enough exercise on a daily basis, but equally important to ensure it's the right kind of activity. Here are some tips to keep your dog healthy and active.
Remember: Puppies Aren't Always Ready
Before we begin, a word of caution: large breed dogs are particularly prone to joint problems that could affect them later in life. That's one of the reasons it's important to give your large breed dog enough exercise, but it's also what can make exercise potentially dangerous.
While your dog is a puppy, avoid strenuous or long-lasting exercise routines, such as hour-long runs. Although your puppy will have seemingly endless energy, his or her skeleton is not developed enough until adulthood for intense activity. Opt for a walk or one of our other ideas until he or she is old enough to stay safe.
